Some cards deserve more than a place in storage.
A favorite card, somewhere your eyes naturally fall.
Sometimes that is all it takes to make a room feel more like your own.

There is no single right answer to how to display trading cards. You might enjoy seeing a whole collection together, or choosing just one card as a quiet accent in your room.

For the first ARCANIA Journal, we are sharing a small guide to bringing one card into everyday life. These trading card display ideas explore desks, shelves, and side tables through photographs, with a focus on placement, breathing room, and light.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Choose a card and a place for it

Your choice does not have to come down to price or a grading score. It could be artwork you love, a card from a memorable game, or a player you support. Start with a card you would enjoy seeing every day.

Next, think about where you will view it from: seated at your desk, perhaps, or as you enter the room. Spend a little time in that spot and find a position where the artwork is easy to see.

If you want to enjoy several cards at once, a collection shelf or wall display may suit you. To give a single card the spotlight, a small trading card display stand or tabletop case is an easy place to start.

01 / DESK

On a desk: somewhere to rest your eyes

A desk brings a favorite card close to the time you spend working or enjoying a hobby. Try placing it beside your monitor or on a nearby shelf, outside the area where your hands move, so it can share the space comfortably.

Before setting up your display, check both the base's footprint and the room you need for your keyboard and mouse. Avoid places where an elbow could knock it over or a spilled drink could reach it.

If reflections make the card hard to see, try changing the angle or position before making the room brighter. The clearest view will depend on your lighting and where you sit.

02 / SHELF

On a shelf: alongside books and plants

For a trading card display that feels at home in your room, mix the card with the things already there. Books and a small plant can help a collection become part of the room rather than fill it.

Think about varied heights and a little breathing room: a tall book, a card, a small pot. Keep the space in front of the card clear. You can begin with one corner of an existing shelf instead of buying a new display unit.

Leave enough distance from plants to avoid splashes when watering. Choose a shelf deep enough to support the entire case securely.

03 / SIDE TABLE

On a side table: enjoying your cards after dark

Beside a sofa or bed, a card can become part of your time to unwind. A small display also lets you enjoy a different atmosphere from the one you see in a bright room during the day.

If you use lighting, aim for a comfortable view rather than maximum brightness. Check from your usual seated or reclining position that the light source is not shining directly into your eyes.

Keep cables out of walkways and place the display away from the edge of the table. Switching the light off when you are not looking at it, including at bedtime, helps it fit naturally into everyday life.

DISPLAY WITH CARE

What to check before displaying your cards

To keep enjoying a favorite card for years to come, consider the case setup as well as the way you arrange your display.

Using the included case that blocks 99% of UV

The Ember Relic includes a dedicated clear case for ungraded trading cards and a case that blocks 99% of UV. Place an ungraded card in the dedicated clear case, then use it with the UV case for display.

For graded cards, the setup depends on the slab, or holder, used by the grading company. The table below distinguishes placing a slab inside the included UV case on the base from inserting the slab directly into the base.

Checked in September 2026 using the standard slabs tested. Fit can vary with holder specifications and additional protective guards; compatibility with every size and generation is not guaranteed.

  • Thicker PSA holders. PSA slabs for cards thicker than 40pt are not compatible with the base. The included UV case accommodates holders up to 81 mm wide × 136 mm high × 6.5 mm thick. Even standard-format holders may not fit inside the UV case if their thickness differs. The pt measurement refers to the thickness of the card itself.
  • TAG, BGS, and PCG. TAG slabs are a very tight fit inside the included UV case; do not force them in. BGS and PCG slabs can be inserted directly into the base without an additional guard, but may lean backward because of the clearance.
  • Displaying a slab with a protective guard. Direct insertion into the base has been confirmed for a standard-size PSA slab fitted with GradedGuard. Use with the included UV case has not been verified. Other guards also need to be checked individually.

The 99% UV-blocking specification applies to the included UV case. This is a separate component from the outer acrylic cover. Inserting a slab directly into the base without the UV case does not provide the protection offered by that case.

Choose the location with care

  • Sunlight, temperature, and humidity. Avoid direct sunlight by windows, airflow from heaters, and places prone to heat or high humidity. UV protection does not prevent every form of fading or deterioration.
  • Stability. Use a flat, stable surface where hands or other objects are unlikely to knock the display. Consider whether small children or pets could reach it.
  • Easy cleaning. Leave enough room to remove dust, and clean the case using a method suitable for its material. Follow the instructions for the product you use.

A CARD. A PLACE. A MOMENT.

A small place for one card.

You do not need a special room. A corner of a shelf or desk is enough to begin. Choose a card you love and put it somewhere you naturally look. You may find yourself enjoying the time you spend there a little more.
